Pioneer Day

This Pioneer Day we really lived it up:) Stephen was able to take the day off, so we played all day long! The firepit we actually did a few days before, the first time trying it out at home. We roasted hotdogs and s'mores. Jack was so good and didn't touch the fire or anything. He loved trying to help daddy light it though:)
We started out our day with a fun hike with Jack and the dogs. Jack showed off to daddy how well he can run all by himself! He's such a trooper - and does most of the 4 miles on his own.
Then, after nap time we went and explored the Living Aquarium.
The anticipation was huge! We kept telling Jack about the sharks and he couldn't wait to see them. They did such a nice job with the whole place, it was really fun seeing Jack excited about the fishies and froggies and stuff.
They had a neat place where kids can actually touch stingrays. Jack liked looking at them, but didn't want to touch. Then there was a section where kids could actually crawl and climb on 'coral' and there were aquariums throughout the coral.
His favorite though were the alligators (which were actually crocodiles, but we've been working on alligators) and snakes in the South America section of the Aquarium. Great Time!
To finish off the night we lit some last fireworks from the Fourth of July.

Day 5- Boise and Home

Last day- we had to drop Ciocia Ada off at the airport, many tears from Jack

After the airport we went to the Boise Discovery Museum. It was 4 rooms of hands on science projects for kids! This bubble wall was Jack's favorite.

But the schoolbus, that was his real favorite!

There were also Canadian Geese in the park, so here are the guys feeding them leftover hotdog buns. What a fabulous trip we had!

Day 4- Thousand Springs

Day 4 we went to see Thousand Springs. Amazing! There was a place called Ritter Island here where the leading farm of Guernsey Cows was taken care of back in the 1930's-1950's. We had a very nice tour of the barn and walked around the waterfalls. It was all so fun, until... Jack got ticks! (Luckily for us, Ada noticed one on herself, so we new to check everyone) (unluckily, I did a bad job checking and didn't see them initially until we were at a restaurant) Suddenly I saw 1 tick crawling on Jack's head, we killed him, but 2 more had already latched on. The poor baby, we tried burning it off, putting butter on it, and finally neosporin. I don't know who was more stressed, Jack or I. We were able to get them off with the neosporin after about an hour- ugh! What horrible bugs! But the waterfalls were truly amazing.

Afterwards we drove into Boise and decided to go to a fun play center. Jack played his first ever miniature golf. From these pictures you'd even think he is playing:) Then we went into the arcade and spent tokens mostly riding cars.

Day 3- Moon Crater Nat'l Park

Day 3 was spent at Moon Crater National Park.
Jack started out the day his favorite way- driving the Jeep
These beautiful lava configurations were everywhere we looked. We also had some cute little chipmunks that tried stealing our chips. They would come right up and take chips out of your hands.

We went for a hike around our campground to explore the area.

Jack was exhausted after all that exploring.

Next we went to see a volcano ash hill. It was so steap and windy!
Then we ran down the hill... it felt like we were flying!

Our next stop was to explore a cave, Jack's priority was the cool school bus
The flowers try to poke through everywhere they can, it's amazing.

Into the cave we go

That was an adventure! So much fun climbing around.
Then we were off to our campground. They had alligators there! We were just listening to Bill Cosby talk about how alligators never move and look so fake- it is completely true!

There was this awesome tree to play on right next to our tent. What a great day!
